HASTINGS, Neb. (KMTV) — The South Heartland District Health Department (SHDHD) announced their first case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing Nebraska's total cases of the virus to 27.
According to SHDHD, the individual is an Adams County woman in her 40's who traveled to Europe.
She's self-isolating at home.
Local public health officials have began contact investigations to identify those who may have been exposed to the woman to prevent further spread.
Identified close contacts will be notified and asked to self-quarantine and will be monitored twice daily by health officials.
