OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Hy-Vee announced Monday that all store and distribution center employees in its eight-state region must wear masks or other facial coverings while working.

Over the past few weeks, Hy-Vee has provided masks to all employees. Effective Monday, employees must wear them inside stores to help protect both customers and fellow employees during the coronavirus outbreak.

Other safety efforts at Hy-Vee include temporary Plexiglass barriers at registers, pharmacies, customer service areas and convenience store counters, social distancing indicators on the floor wherever lines typically form in the store, one-way direction signs for all aisles, sanitation of all carts and check stand belts between each customer use, special shopping times for those most at-risk and more.

Additionally, Hy-Vee will give full and part-time store employees a 10% appreciation bonus for all of their hours worked from April 13 through May 3.

This is the second appreciation bonus the company will give to its front line employees.
