OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - — COVID-19 cases are increasing daily in Nebraska, and while there's still a desperate need for supplies, one company is ensuring its employees are safe on the job.
"You know, one of our primary concerns is making sure our caregivers are protected and following CDC guidelines as far as what should be worn inside the home taking care of our clients," CEO of Right at Home Brian Petranick said.
Thousand of masks and gloves are being sent to Right at Home offices across the country from here in Omaha.
"Today I think we're right at about 50,000 masks," Petranick said. "Over the course of the next two to three weeks, we anticipate distributing about half a million gloves and masks to all of our offices."
Petranick said the coronavirus has impacted his company.
"As far as care goes, we are seeing increased demand for our services because people really want to be at home where they're safe and in some ways kind of social distancing anyway," he said.
"I just think that caregivers are essential health care employees," Right at Home's Alyssa Jelinek said. "I think that sometimes, because of some of the cares we provide, [it] might not seem essential like running to the grocery store, or housekeeping ... but in these times they are so essential."
Jelinek said home caregivers have also stepped up their efforts to to slow the spread of COVID-19.
"We provided all or our caregivers with preparedness kits so essentially it includes hand sanitzer, gloves and mask and then in some cases, if the care giver, you know, feels it's necessary, we'll provide a gown for them as well," she said.
"People just want to age in their home and do so in an environment they feel is safe and secure," Petranick said.
