BLAIR, Neb. (KMTV) — On Tuesday, officials with the Three Rivers Public Health Department tell the public that almost 20 people contracted the Coronavirus at a Blair senior living home.

Of the 17 total residents at Carter Place, 13 of them have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week, another 4 staff members, and 2 health care workers are also infected.

Three Rivers believes a staff member at an event somewhere in the area brought it into the facility. The event was not disclosed.

Exec. Director of Three Rivers Public Health, Terra Uhing, says all are doing ok, but it shows the harsh reality that this virus is everywhere.

“What we really need people to understand is that this is serious. This is here in all of the communities. I don’t even believe that we have started to see what this surge might look like,” Uhing explained.

All residents were evacuated from the facility over the weekend and it is currently being cleaned.
