OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert held her weekly news conference on Friday and had quite a few announcements.

She echoed the governor's guideline changes in Douglas, Sarpy and Cass counties. She then said that all city parks will be reopened tomorrow, April 25th. The parks will be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. but the playgrounds at all city parks will remain closed.

“So we are asking parents, especially with small children, please keep your kids off the playgrounds because they are not safe and we cannot guarantee that they have been disinfected,” she said. “Our parks will open tomorrow morning, a week early, and along with that...our beloved dog parks will open again too.”

Stothert said swimming pools and splash grounds will not open in June like they typically do but she and the parks director are monitoring the situation and say they hope to open some pools and splash pads in July if it is safe to do so.
