OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Tuesday, the Omaha City Council is scheduled to hold a vote to determine whether the current city-wide mask mandate is extended or not.

If approved, the mandate would be extended from its current expiration date of 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 24 through December 29 at the same time.

Council members Pete Festerson and Ben Gray submitted the extension proposal on Oct 15.

The council held a public hearing to discuss the possible extension on Oct. 27, during which proponents and opponents shared their thoughts on another extension.

Back in October, the 3 News Now Investigators looked into whether any citations had been issued for those not adhering to the mandate. Although the Douglas County Health Department and the Omaha Police Department had received a number of complaints about mask violations in the nearly two-month period that the mandate was in place, no citations had been issued.
