OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Tuesday, the Omaha City Council is scheduled to hold a vote to determine whether the current city-wide mask mandate is extended or not.

If approved, the mandate would be extended from its current expiration date of 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 24 through December 29 at the same time.

Council members Pete Festerson and Ben Gray submitted the extension proposal on Oct 15.

The council held a public hearing to discuss the possible extension on Oct. 27, during which proponents and opponents shared their thoughts on another extension.

Back in October, the 3 News Now Investigators looked into whether any citations had been issued for those not adhering to the mandate.Although the Douglas County Health Department and the Omaha Police Department had received a number of complaints about mask violations in the nearly two-month period that the mandate was in place, no citations had been issued.
