OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals confirmed Wednesday night that they are developing a Special Care Unit at their Omaha campus designed to care for those who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 or Madonna patients who may need to be tested.

See a statement below.

"We are developing a Special Care Unit at our Omaha Campus to prepare for the possibility of caring for post COVID-19 patients who are no longer infectious or Madonna patients who may need to be tested for the virus. Like all health care systems, we are planning for a potential surge of patients. As a rehabilitation hospital, we anticipate admitting a greater number of patients needing specialty rehab care following illness. We will temporarily combine our Omaha and Lincoln pediatrics units – moving several patients from Omaha to Lincoln freeing space for the development of this dedicated unit, beginning Monday, April 13."
