OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A more than $2 trillion dollar plan to help workers, businesses and health care systems deal with coronavirus has moved one step closer to reality.

In a late night vote, the senate voted unanimously to pass the economic rescue package. It is the largest economic relief bill in U.S. history.

Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse said "the bill isn't great", but says it sends an important message.

"We want to celebrate workers; we want to celebrate the dignity of work, and this bill stated purpose is to do that," Sasse said.

Sasse said the bill will also "turbocharge vaccine development", and help small businesses.
