OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Our partners at the Omaha World-Herald are reporting TD Ameritrade is looking to hire 275 people in Omaha due to an increase in trade activity.
The company says the first three months of 2020 broke daily trading records and they believe activity will remain high. From January through March, TD Ameritrade reported 2.1 million trades per day, dwarfing the previous record, which was set in the previous quarter, by about 1.1 million trades per day.
The company believes trades are up due to uncertainty in the market, newly-implemented zero-commission trading and people having more time to manage their portfolios as they remain quarantined.
Back in November, TD Ameritrade entered a deal to be purchased by Charles Schwab and announced plans to relocate the trading giant's headquarters to Texas. The agreement for Charles Schwab to purchase TD Ameritrade should go through in the second half of 2020 said, TD Ameritrade Interim President and CEO Steve Boyle.
TD Ameritrade also plans to hire 525 people at other locations across the country.
