An 11-year-old boy is accused of shooting a priest with a pellet gun while trying to rob him Wednesday evening.

According to police, Rev. Thomas Weisbecker was walking along Tomahawk Blvd, near St. James Catholic Church, when the 11-year-old hit him in the head with three pellets fired from an airsoft gun and ran away.

Weisbecker was calling 911, police said, when the boy returned and demanded Weisbecker put the phone down and hand over his money.

When officers arrived, they found the boy at a nearby house with the help of his mother, police said in a statement Friday.

The boy, who is not being identified because of his age, faces charges of attempted robbery and misdemeanor assault.
