Douglas County Attorney Don Klein tells us the law does not allow the girl to be charged as an adult so they are moving forward with the misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide charge.

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The 14-year-old driver connected to a fatal crash this past weekend will be charged in juvenile court, the Omaha World-Herald reports.

The paper says Douglas County attorney Don Kleine plans to file a misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide charge against the teen.

According to police, the teen was driving a pickup truck on Saturday night when it struck a motorcycle in the area of Q and 156th streets.

The driver of the motorcycle, 29-year-old Dillon Flesner, was killed in the accident. A passenger was suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, the 14-year-old and two teenage passengers weren't hurt.

The paper reports there's no indications the teen was driving recklessly and she doesn't have a criminal record.

She is not currently in custody but will have to appear in court once the charge is formally filed.

Police said the teen did not have any kind of permit or license. The investigation is ongoing.
