Firefighters battled a fire inside a home in South Omaha late Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the home near 41st and W at around 4:50 p.m.. When they arrived, heavy smoke was pouring from the house and it was believed people may have been inside. Fortunately no one was home.
It's believed the fire may have started in the kitchen. The back of the house was heavily damaged. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
