OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — February is National Heart Month. The American Red Cross held a blood drive at Nebraska Furniture Mart on Monday.

Every two seconds, someone needs blood and just one pint can save up to three people.

Typically, the store holds blood drives for its employees, but this is the first blood drive for customers at NFM.

“Giving back is an important piece of what important to everybody,” said Andy Shefsky of Nebraska Furniture Mart. “It's important to us as a company, it's important to our staff and its equally as important to our customers.”

NFM didn't have any expectations for the number of donors. They just hoped that people would stop and say, ‘Wow, I’d love to help our community.”
