Police have made an arrest in a disturbance and stabbing that left three people hurt near the Peru State College campus Saturday night.
The Nebraska State Patrol along with the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office arrested 24 year old Jeffland Neverson on Monday at a residence in Peru. Neverson was booked for first degree assault and weapons charges.
Sheriff's deputies were called to investigate a disturbance and stabbing near the 1000 block of 5th Street in Peru, which is a couple of blocks from the college campus. 20 year old Elijah Lavalais-Hawkins, 19 year old Larry Hodnett, and 23 year old Anthony Hemingway were injured. Hemingway was treated and released, while Lavalais-Hawkins and Hodnett were taken to Nemaha County Hospital, and then flown to Bryan Trauma Center in Lincoln with injuries that are not considered life threatening.
All four involved are Peru State College students. The investigation into what led up to the disturbance and stabbings continues.
