Ashford resigns as head of Midtown 2050 Corporation

NEW: Brad Ashford has resigned as president and executive director of Midtown 2050 Corporation.

Ken Cook, chairman of Midtown 2050 Corporation said in a press release, "While we are sorry to receive Brad's resignation, we respect his decision," said Cook. "I wish to thank Brad for his passion for Midtown Vision 2050 and his involvement in helping launch this ambitious effort. Brad has focused much of his career in public service on the development of the original City of Omaha. We value his input and will continue to view him as an ally as the Midtown Vision 2050 initiative continues to build community-challenging momentum."

Midtown 2050 is a new development corporation developed to coordinate and accelerate the next phase of Midtown Omaha's revitalization.

"We've made great progress in raising awareness of the potential of Midtown Omaha," said Ashford in a press release. "It has been an honor for me to be a part of this effort and I'm confident that, as a community united, we continue to accelerate the vision of strengthening and revitalizing our urban core. We will get it done."

A replacement for Brad Ashford is underway.
