With the mission to inspire, educate and engage, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium works hard to stay on top. It consistently ranks as one of the zoos in the county and with a variety of programs, one that keeps people coming back is the backstage experience.
The program started a year and a half ago and according to the zoo's vice president of education Elizabeth Mulkerrin, it's been a big success with many people returning.
The backstage experience showcases three exhibits: the aquarium, the kingdom of the night and the lied jungle.
"Each one of those locations there's something unique and special that we do with our animals to take care of them," Mulkerrin said.
