Bellevue Police Chief Mark Elbert has been on paid leave for nearly 11 months now.

Our partners at the Omaha World-Herald report the city has paid Elbert more than $108,000 and he continues to receive benefits, including health insurance.

The city is investigating claims Elbert made derogatory comments to women and racial minorities. Elbert's attorney is "dismayed and disappointed" at the length of the investigation.

Captain Dave Stukenhotlz continues to serve as the department's acting chief.
