Bellevue Police officer Craig Wiech, 52, had his bail set at $1 million in Douglas County Thursday afternoon.

Wiech is charged with two counts of attempted assault on an officer or first responder. Weich allegedly hit an Omaha Police officer and trying to punch a firefighter after they were called to his home after his girlfriend, 48-year-old Carrie Brown, died of a gunshot wound.

The circumstances of Brown, a former evidence technician with the Bellevue Police Department, are still under investigation, which is part of the reason the judge asked for a high bond.

BPD reports that "Wiech is on administrative leave at this time."
