OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A spokesperson for Omaha Public Schools (OPS) sent a letter to Beveridge Magnet Middle School families on Wednesday announcing that principal Dr. David Lavender is on leave.

OPS Chief Human Resources Officer Charles Wakefield says the leave is unrelated to conduct with students.

Read his letter to parents below.

Dear Beveridge Magnet Middle School Families:

I am writing to make you aware that Beveridge Principal Dr. David Lavender is currently on leave. The leave is not related to conduct with students. We understand that you may have additional questions. Please know that due to privacy laws, there is very limited information that I can share.

School will continue as normal. We have a strong team of staff and administrative leaders at Beveridge who will continue to achieve great work with students each and every day. Ms. Michaela Jackson will serve as interim principal.

Though I am limited in what additional information I can provide at this time, please contact the OPS Human Resources office at (531) 299-0240 if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Charles Wakefield
Chief Human Resources Officer
