Officials with the La Vista Police Department said they spotted two people outside of the department Sunday when one of their officers noticed they placed blue ribbons on their trees.

LVPD posted the photos on their social media pages Sunday night.

"This is the reassurance that our officers needed most on a day like today. It's great to see that the community does have our back," LVPD wrote on their Facebook page.

"Words cannot express how this small gesture makes us feel. From the men and women of the La Vista Police Department, we extend our most sincere gratitude."

This is one of the many gestures the public has been showing support for the law enforcement in light of the recent deadly shootings involving police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
