COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (KMTV) — An unwelcome surprise awaited a Council Bluffs couple on Saturday.
Lynne Branigan and Gardner Broadbent saw a bobcat hanging out in their backyard, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Branigan took photos and Broadbent took video of the wild animal.
Branigan says this is not the first she's spotted a wild animal in her backyard. She's also seen foxes, deer, and raccoons. This is the first time the couple had seen a bobcat despite living in the same house for 10 years.
The World-Herald reports that the population of bobcats in Iowa is estimated at 5,000 to 7,000, according to Vince Evelsizer, state furbearer biologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
