Chicago Archbishop Cardinal Blase Cupich will be back in Omaha next month.
Cupich, who was elevated to Cardinal by Pope Francis on Saturday, will preside at a Vespers service at St. Cecilia Cathedral at 7 p.m. on December 30th. A dessert reception will follow. The Vespers service and reception are open to the public.
Cupich attended Saints Peter and Paul school and then Archbishop Ryan High School. He served as priest at St. Margaret Mary and St. Robert parishes in Omaha before becoming bishop of Rapid City in 1989, bishop of Spokane in 2010 before being named archbishop of Chicago in 2014.
