PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. (KMTV) — It's been almost a year since Marine Cpl. Daegan Page lost his life in the line of duty in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The community is honoring his memory and renaming Greenwood Road, which will now to be called Daegan Page Way.

It's a gesture that carries meaning for his father Greg Page.

"With our mission, one turning this tragedy into something good, two making sure his name is carried on and people don't forget what he did," Greg said.

Daegan's memory is permanently part of our streets. On June 30th, Sarpy County re-named a five-block stretch of Gertrude after the fallen marine and that's where his mom lives. That's why renaming this street in Beaver Lake where his father lives is a fitting move.

"Daegan had two homes, two families that loved him very much, it's just great to see, both in Sarpy County and here at Beaver Lake that there will be two streets, stop, pause and say his name," his mom Wendy Adelson said.

Wendy's hope is to use this street as a teaching moment.

"As children come into the neighborhoods, and they wonder what that sign means, what a great opportunity to teach others not just about the name on the sign, not just about Daegan, but about everyone who has served and given their lives for us and our freedoms and the freedoms of others," Wendy said.

Greg also requested the Patriot Guard Riders participate today in this street dedication ceremony.
