Research indicates pets can help relieve stress and anxiety. So on Tuesday CHI Health had some four-legged friends on hand for what it calls "wag therapy."
The dogs are stationed at various locations including Lakeside Hospital to put a smile on people's faces.
"There is something called a cuddle chemical, which is also known as oxycontin. It gets released when you cuddle your pets, just like when you cuddle your kids. It is a loving kind of chemical and it helps people feel calmer and less stressed," said CHI Mental Health Therapist, Karen Williams.
Visitors, patients and employees who needed a break had some down time to enjoy the dogs.
