OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Drivers who park in the wrong spot downtown may soon have to deal with a "barnacle" rather than a "boot."

The Omaha City Council passed a new parking ticket plan. The plan includes using "barnacles," which are devices put on windshields to disable cars. Barnacles would be used for those with three old parking tickets.

The plan would also change parking ticket fees from a flat 16 dollar fine to a range gong from 16 to 100 dollars, depending on the violation. The plan will also give a six dollar discount to those who pay their fine within the first 48 hours.
