Opponents of the juvenile justice center are not backing down on their plea to keep it out of the downtown area.

Last night, more than a dozen city groups vented their frustrations with Douglas County Commissioners.

Black Men United's Willie Hamilton says the county should not spend millions of dollars on a new justice center, but instead, he suggests the money should fund resources aimed at keeping teens from winding up there in the first place.

"More of our youth and children of color are getting incarcerated. How will this impact them? Is it going to knock the numbers down? Is that going to decrease the number of folks going to the prison?" he said.
