More than 50 volunteers came out to a state preserve tucked in the back of a Council Bluffs neighborhood Thursday to clean up 45 acres of natural persevere.

"Most of our days have 2-3 saws, not 20-30 saws," said Mary Runkel, volunteer coordinator with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation said.

Vincent Bluff State Preserve is the only protected preserve of its kind in the state of Iowa. Council Bluffs owns the land and the Iowa Heritage Foundation maintains the land.
