Cold temperatures did not keep people away from a fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics, even though it meant running through the frigid waters of Lake Manawa.

Those hitting the water say it was a small sacrifice for a big cause.

"It's a little snowy," Gavin and Jeff Huff said before getting in the water. "So it makes it even better to polar plunge. It's really cold, so it will be fun."

Corina Gray talked about the conditions, saying: "Very cold. It's 42 degrees, but very exciting."

Organizers said each participant raised at least $75 for the Special Olympics.
