Westside provided the following update on 11/24/2020:

WESTSIDE FAMILIES, STAFF AND STUDENTS:

We made it to Thanksgiving Week. This semester has been full of challenges and unknowns. We are proud of our students, their families, and our staff for helping us make it this far.

As you enjoy your Thanksgiving break, we ask you to please be mindful of your decisions outside of school that may put you at risk and impact our learning environment in the coming weeks. Please avoid large group gatherings and parties. Please wear a mask. Please watch your distance. Please help us stay in school.

Please follow all Douglas County Health guidelines and follow the advice provided by our local medical experts. We know traditions may look different this year, but we are hopeful a few modifications will help us stay in school through the rest of 2020. For more on what is currently recommended in Douglas County and the Omaha area, click here: https://www.westside66.org/domain/444 [track.spe.schoolmessenger.com]

As we come back to school on Monday, November 30th in YELLOW mode, we need everyone to continue to screen daily for symptoms of COVID-19. Please stay home if you exhibit any symptoms. We have a link to our symptom screener, testing sites, and contact information for our COVID team on our website; click here: https://www.westside66.org/domain/479 [track.spe.schoolmessenger.com]

REMINDERS:

· Students with last names that begin with A-K will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays in-person and learn from home on Wednesdays - Fridays beginning on November 30th.

· Students with last names that begin with L-Z will learn from home Mondays - Wednesdays and attend school in-person on Thursdays and Fridays beginning on November 30th.

We have attached our school calendar with details on schedules that will be in effect through the remainder of 1st semester, HERE: NEW School Calendar through Dec 18 (1).pdf [track.spe.schoolmessenger.com] We will also send out a text message to all of our families Sunday evening, November 29, reminding you of Monday’s schedule in YELLOW mode.

A decision will be made/announced on/around December 14th as to what mode (Green-Yellow-Red) we plan to begin 2nd semester in starting January 5th. Actions that we all take over the next few weeks could have a significant impact on what we are able to do in January.

As always, if you have any questions regarding COVID planning, schedules, curriculum or Extended Campus Learning, please visit our website www.westside66.org [track.spe.schoolmessenger.com] and click on the COVID-19 button in the top menu bar, or email feedback@westside66.net.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
