COUNCIL BLUFFS, Ia. (KMTV) — As the pandemic set in, a homeowner in Council Bluffs needed something to stay busy. His wife suggested he paint the house — so he did.

For Halloween, their home was black. For Thanksgiving and Christmas — you guessed it — the home got new coats of paint.

For Valentine’s Day, Mark Ratashak painted the home he shares with his wife bright pink.

He said, “People say it’s about decorating but it’s not. It’s about the community...something to say, ‘Hey, keep your head up and keep going.’ There are things to do...you know...instead of being stuck at home.”

Ratashak said he already has a plan in the works for St. Patrick’s Day as well. If you want to take a romantic cruise by the house, you can find it at the corner Avenue F and 8th Street.
