A majority of the Council Bluffs City Council on Wednesday directed the city clerk to place a resolution for their next meeting to select a site for the new police station.
The meeting is set to take place on June 13th.
Officials added to allow as much public comment as needed, the council has expressed its desire to waive its rules and to double the amount of time individuals can take to comment on this type of action from 5 minutes to 10 minutes.
Back on May 3rd, Council Bluffs voters approved a $20 million bond in a special election to fund the new police station.
The Council Bluffs Police Department is currently functioning in a nearly 40-year-old facility in cramped quarters of 19,000 square feet.
The new building would be 58,000 square feet in a location to be determined by the City Council.
