Fire crews responded to an apartment building fire at Ft. Cook Road & Harvell Drive in Bellevue Tuesday afternoon.
Tenants of the building were asked to evacuate while fire crews battled the large fire.
Among the tenants, was James Nuno, who spotted the smoke from miles away on his drive home from work.
"I got closer and I realized that that was my apartment building. I just started crying in the middle of the road and came here to figure it out and then I started calling people," says Nuno.
Nuno and his fiancé have lived at the Gateway Park Apartments for nearly three years. Their third-floor apartment appears to be completely ruined.
"Everything's gone. We talked to the fire department and he's like, yeah, nothing's left in there," adds Nuno.
Among all of their belongings, the couple lost their wedding rings, her wedding dress and many wedding decorations. The couple only needed a few more things for their September wedding.
But amidst all loss, the couple found hope, when fire crews found their missing family member - their cat Toby, who had been missing since the fire started.
"I heard screaming and I know they were waiting for the cat to come out and I was like, that's got to be the cat. And I ran down there and sure enough, the fire department was running up with the cat," says Nuno.
Fire crews said the cat chewed a hole in the mattress box spring and crawled up in between the box spring and the mattress. Toby was drenched in water, but appeared to be okay.
"The cat survived. And I'm so happy - a little bit of hope comes out of a big mess," says Nuno's mom, Lisa Werthmann. "That's their baby. They raised him since he was a kitten. Toby was the first thing James bought when he moved."
Nuno says he's grateful everyone made it okay, but is hopeful one of his most precious belongings is found undamaged.
"Everything else is replaceable. Except for my dad's ashes. That's what I'm most worried about. Hopefully that survives somehow. By something miraculous that happens."
The couple plans to move in with Werthmann while they get back on their feet. Nuno says they will continue with the wedding as planned.
