Department of Roads reports 12 fatalities in May

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) - Twelve people in Nebraska died in traffic crashes in the month of May, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. 

The 12 fatalities occurred in 12 total crashes and eight of those people were in the vehicles and four were riding motorcycles or ATVs.

Seven of the eight who were in vehicles were not wearing seatbelts.

Only one of the crashes was on the Interstate, six were on non-interstate highways and five were on local roads. 

In 2017, there have been 78 fatalities and 73 fatal crashes, both of those are up from this point in 2016.
