The Dodge Street pedestrian bridge connecting two city parks is was open again Tuesday.

The bridge had been closed during its renovation, which started in early July. The finish date had been pushed back when the bases needed unexpected repairs.

“I think this project benefits the entire city because there’s hundreds that cross over it every day from the neighborhoods, but thousands pass underneath it every day,” Omaha Councilman Pete Festersen said. “And it kind of bridges our two most important parks: Memorial Park and Elmwood Park.”

The bridge will have a formal dedication with donors and city officials on Sept. 21, when it's landmark status will also be re-dedicated.
