Douglas County issues influenza surveillance report

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Influenza activity continues to decrease around Douglas County, a press release from the health department says.

A total of 31 lab confirmed cases of influenza were reported last week, compared to 93 the previous week. The percentage of all healthcare visits related to influenza and students absent from school due to the illness has decreased as well.

Since September 30, a total of 3,733 confirmed cases of influenza have been reported in the area.

Fourteen adult deaths and one pediatric death happened in Douglas County during the season, the press release says.

Influenza activity remains elevated in 44 states including Puerto Rico.
