Police say an intoxicated driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after backing into a patrol vehicle.

The Council Bluffs Police Department says 33-year-old Elvin Moralas-Gutierrez backed his truck out of a driveway near 23rd Street and 8th Avenue, and into the SUV of an officer who had pulled up.

The officer had responded around 2 a.m. to a call of a man refusing to leave a residence.

“Officers were able to get the attention of the driver and he pulled back into the driveway,” officials said.

He showed signs of intoxication, according to police.  He faces a charge of operating while intoxicated.
