The Durham Museum unveiled "Hollis," the final bronze statue in a series of eight, this morning.
Local sculptor John Lajba created all seven sculptures in a 21-year long project.
The latest, a boy named Hollis, was named after the organization that funded the work.
Lajba said he wants people to interact with his pieces and hopes Hollis will help kids feel welcome.
"When they come in, he's actually looking at them and he is actually saying hi to them and telling them ‘Welcome to my home,’ " Lajba said.
Lajba said he worked on Hollis for six months. The statue is hand-painted, like the other seven sculptures in the series.
