Early Morning Infant Death Under Investigation

The Council Bluffs Police Department is investigating an infant death that happened early Saturday morning.

Holley Campbell told police that she awoke around 4:00am to check on her son and found him unresponsive and not breathing.

She tried to rush him to the hospital, but her vehicle experienced mechanical problems. Campbell pulled over and flagged down another driver for help.

Police arrived to 23rd Ave. around 4:30am to help paramedics trying to revive the two-month old boy.

Paramedics began CPR and rushed the child to Jennie Edmundson Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

This investigation is still ongoing.
