According to the 2018 enrollment report for the University of Nebraska system, overall enrollment is down about one percent from 2017.
Across the whole system, the overall number of undergraduate students was down one percent and graduate students were down 2.2 percent.
Additionally, UNL and UNK saw a decrease of about one percent while UNO was down about 1.9 percent. UNMC saw a record number of students thanks to a 1.6 percent increase.
"In a perfect world, enrollment would go up every year," NU President Hank Bounds said. "But after five straight years of growth, including back-to-back record highs, some ebb and flow is inevitable."
Overall, there are 51,883 students in the system, representing all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
"When you consider the challenges the University of Nebraska has faced in recent years, there's much to be proud of in this enrollment report," Bounds said. "The chancellors and I are focused on what the university and our partners need to do going forward to accelerate our growth so that we continue to meet the needs of Nebraska's workforce and economy."
