Just 5 days ago UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green fired Shawn Eichorst from being the NU Athletics Director. On Tuesday, Green announced former Husker great Dave Rimington will take over in an interim role for 60 days.

Students on UNL campus weighed in on the move.

"I think it’s definitely a good thing to get a former Husker, especially one that was on winning teams and know how to win," said UNL student Ted Maline.

"Pleased at the new hire and, if he’s there to help it’s a good deal I guess," said UNL student Jarrod Blaser.

Other students hope this put Nebraska football in a better position, "

Primarily I want to get the football team back on track. It’s kind of disappointing-it’s my first year here with the two losses especially with the teams I think we could have beaten and I want to see an athletic director come in and put the team in the right direction," said UNL student Sean Lynch.
Rimington will make $100,000 during his two month interim role.
