Farmers can't catch a break with severe weather

Farmers in Nebraska are hoping for a long, steady rain after a dry winter and cold April.

Dusty conditions are a factor across rural parts of the state, even affecting farmers on no-till acres.

Quick thunderstorms forecasted for Tuesday may not be enough, as the quicker the rain falls the less it soaks into the soil.

While they hope for wetter weather, farmers are fertilizing and planting, saying if May does run wetter, it could affect their ability to get the crop in the ground before it’s too late.
