OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — An Omaha man, who was there when his toddler son shot a 1 1/2 year old girl in the face, was punished for gun crimes.

Mosell Gulley, 25, was sentenced to 15-20 years in prison. With “good time” he’ll serve about 9 years before being eligible for parole.

In a 2 day span in April 2019, Gulley shot at a car with a family including kids in it and attempted to rob Fetts City Motor Center.

In 2017 he was there when his toddler son shot 18-month-old Malaya Buie in the face at her father’s apartment. Malaya survived. Gulley and Malaya’s father Marquell Buie were smoking weed at the time, according to police.

Gulley, who’s affiliated with a gang, didn’t get charged but Buie served 1 1/2 years in prison.

“Especially with something so serious and so tragic. Obviously he didn’t learn from that here, and it’s really unfortunate that we have to see him again,” said Douglas County Chief Deputy Attorney Brenda Beadle.

Buie was then arrested with the gun that Gulley used in the 2019 crimes. He’s awaiting sentencing.

Gulley’s also facing an indictment in federal court related to the incidents.
