Female veterans go on honor flight

Posted

A group of female veterans have a full day ahead of them in Washington D.C. after flying out of Eppley Airfield early Monday morning for an all-woman honor flight.

The group of more than 100 women will spend the day taking a tour of memorials and landmarks honoring their service before returning home to Nebraska at around 8:30 Monday night.

Sunday night, the group had a preflight dinner and met others who served and their community and shared stories from their service.

"I have met so many people just from the community that I had no idea were veterans and they didn't know I was a veteran," attendee Meg Fricke said. "I've met people again that we didn't know our paths crossed back in the day."

The age range of the veterans are as young as 27 and as old as 98.
