OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Despite today's cooler weather, summer is officially here and with it...often unbearable heat. With that in mind, the Salvation Army is partnering with Westlake Ace Hardware stores to help those in need beat the heat.

The Salvation Army says they're in their final stretch of soliciting fan donations for people who are unable to afford them. They say the donation drive will end this Sunday and have provided the following information:

  • Summer is just getting started, and The Salvation Army needs help restocking its supply of fans to help those in need beat the summer heat.
  • Westlake Ace Hardware is hosting a fan drive to benefit The Salvation Army from June 6 - 23. Monetary donations can be made toward fans at ALL local Westlake Ace Hardware stores, including those in Bellevue and Ralston. Any donation amount will be accepted!
  • The Salvation Army will distribute fans locally throughout the summer to qualified individuals.
  • For information about eligibility to receive a fan, call The Salvation Army at 402-898-5860.
