OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Fire crews reported 4688 Oak Street after police were originally called to investigate a burglary.

When police arrived, they noticed damage to the front door and smoke coming from a bedroom. The suspect, 42-year-old Timothy Horvath broke a window and jumped out of the house to escape, but was taken into custody by officers behind the house.

The home previously belonged to an elderly couple, but it is vacant because the residents died months ago.

A resident of the neighborhood told 3 News Now that burglaries are common in the area.
