Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office responded to a truck on fire just after 3:00 p.m. today. The truck was in a field nine miles west and one mile north of Pierce.
They found the truck engulfed in flames. Volunteers with the Pierce Fire Department put out the fire. They then found human remains in the cab of the pickup.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
They have not released the identity of the person in the truck.
