Firefighters in Council Bluffs have been raising money, $11,000 so far, to buy a service dog for a veteran in need.
"Since we have a lot of veterans in the department, a lot have served, we thought that was a worthy cause to get involved in," said Jim Maske, with the Council Bluffs Fire Department.
The money was presented to the Puppy Jake Foundation Tuesday morning. The organization trains dogs and pairs them with veterans who need them.
