First Birthday fundraiser helps local baby beating the odds

Posted

A local young girl facing a serious and deadly disorder is beating the odds.

On Wednesday, Quinn Albert celebrated her first birthday.  She has a rare form of dwarfism that her parents say affects less than 60 children worldwide.  Those diagnosed with the disorder statistically don't make it to their first birthday.

Quinn and her parents threw a fundraiser in her name Wednesday evening, teaming up with Chick-Fil-A in Papillion to raise money for a clinical trial aimed at raising Quinn's life expectancy.

“We came in here about 10 minutes before they started and everyone just started pouring in and we just felt the love.  Knowing that people are surrounding her with love means a lot to us,” said Quinn’s mom, Lacey Albert.

Money raised on Wednesday goes to Rhizokids International, the organization linked to the clinical trial.
