A neighborhood is standing up against a new convenience store in the Peony Park area.  The owner of the store has been granted a liquor license with stipulations, but he wants more.

In October the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission approved a license for the Blondo Convenient Food Mart at 79th & Blondo St., but under the conditions that they couldn't sell single cans of beer or bottles of liquor under .375 milliliters.  In July, the Omaha City Council recommended the LCC deny them a license because of oversaturation of liquor in the area, issues with litter, and crime.

The owner is now appealing their license approval, which is upsetting residents and council members.

"The discussion was for them to be involved and embrace the neighborhood to have that discussion, and so for them to come back and be fighting restrictions that I think are reasonable I think is not in good faith," said Councilman Pete Festersen.

The location is currently closed, and next to a former No Frills location on Blondo St.

An appeal hearing is scheduled for May.
