Keeping food on the shelves has been a challenge for the Metropolitan Community Church.
"This food bank has been putting out everything on their shelves," said Misty Price of the Imperial Court of Nebraska. "We decided to work with MCC to host a food drive. They need a new freezer and they need canned goods to put non-perishables back on the shelves"
The Imperial Court of Nebraska has been around for 40 years. They are run strictly on volunteers.
Donations to help out the MCC was a priority because the community in that area is in great need.
"Every week our shelves are empty," said Shellie Foster, food pantry manager at MCC. "We try to accommodate people when they need food. I occasionally deliver to some people who food. We need shelf stable food. Anything, we will take it, our customers very much appreciate it. "
Since COVID-19 the pantry has seen an even greater increase in their usual demand for food. You can drop off food or cash donations at the MCC this Wednesday from 10 am - 5 pm.
